MRI SENTINEL EVENT PROTECTION
In the MRI environment, a serious deterrent for ferromagnetic missile threats is the conscientious application of BOTH diligent medical screening protocols and ferromagnetic detection.
As a response to cost containment in all areas of medical care, we proudly offer the most cost-effective solutions available - our revolutionary SAFESCAN Intercept Pillar® and hand-held SAFESCAN Target Scanner™.
|
|
SAFESCAN® ferromagnetic detection products are designed specifically for MR Safety.
SAFESCAN® products conform to ACR, Joint Commission,
and VA recommendations for best practices. |

SAFESCAN Intercept Pillar
-
The most cost-effective pass-through ferromagnetic detection system in the marketplace
(our 3rd generation system designed and manufactured to the highest standards)
- Free-standing variable aperture for exceptional flexibility in siting
(can be mounted if required)
- Position close (26-30 inches) for ambulatory subject screening or position 36-54" for entry doorway screening
- In minutes, this pass-through system can be relocated or reconfigured to meet changing needs
- Ideally suited for use with our hand-held SAFESCAN Target Scanner
SAFESCAN Target Scanner
- Excellent for ambulatory patients and patients on stretchers
- Sophisticated hand-held ferromagnetic detection instrument with exceptional price/value
- The most sensitive ferromagnetic detection product for MR Safety on the market when positioned close to a threat object
SAFESCAN Sentinel Portal
- Helps to protect your patients and staff against significant ferromagnetic threats
- Aperture width of 48" for entry version and 24" for patient version (or can be customized at a small additional cost)

ACR Guidance Document for
Safe MR Practices: 2007
Metal detectors
The usage in MR environments of conventional metal detectors
which do not differentiate between ferrous and nonferromagnetic
materials is not recommended....
However, ferromagnetic detection systems are currently
available that are simple to operate, capable of detecting even
very small ferromagnetic objects external to the patient, and
now, for the first time, differentiating between ferromagnetic
and nonferromagnetic materials. While the use of conventional
metal detectors is not recommended, the use of ferromagnetic
detection systems is recommended as an adjunct to thorough
and conscientious screening of persons and devices approaching
Zone IV. It should be reiterated that their use is in no way
meant to replace a thorough screening practice, which rather
should be supplemented by their usage.
|
|
CAUTION: Even the most advanced technology
is NOT 100 per cent foolproof. Thus, ferromagnetic
detectors should not replace
current PRE-MRI screening procedures. We believe that the safety of your
patients and personnel is best served by the combination of conscientious
medical screening protocols AND a quality ferromagnetic detection system used
with proper technique.
